A retired merchant-navy officer was arrested following a complaint made by actor Amir Khan, for allegedly posting false and offensive messages about him on social media. Identified as Ajit Vadakayil, the retired captain was arrested under Section 66A of the IT Act. In his posts he had commented about the actor’s television show ‘Satyamev Jayate’. According to reports, Amir Khan had met Joint Police Commissioner (Crime) at Mumbai Police headquarters last week and briefed him about ‘false and malicious messages’ being circulated on social media websites were damaging his reputation.
